I have written in French four novels and about a hundred short stories set in the same universe, in the 12th century, during the era of the Crusades, creating a complex and vibrant society populated by hundreds of very diverse characters. The development of this body of work was based on rigorous research across numerous fields, including textual and archaeological sources as well as academic studies, to ensure the accuracy of historical events and daily life, with the aim of bringing to life the social attitudes of the time.
The Ernaut of Jerusalem Series #
This series chronicles the adventures of Ernaut, a Burgundian who settled in the Holy Land in the mid-12th century. Each story offers an opportunity to discover a facet of Mediterranean society at that time, through an investigation that delves into a cosmopolitan and exotic society.
Qit’a Short Stories #
Set on the periphery of the novels in the Ernaut Cycle, these are short stories set in the same world but spanning a broader temporal and geographical scope. Here you’ll find glimpses into other moments in the hero’s life as well as the fates of secondary and minor characters from the novels. There are just over a hundred stories spread across the five volumes, with each scene precisely located and dated, just as in the novels, to offer new perspectives on certain passages once the entire series has been read.
